ADDRESSING BULLYING BEHAVIOURS

BANBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL

At Banbridge High School, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all our students. We recognise that bullying behaviour of any form is unacceptable and take a proactive stance to address and prevent it.

In alignment with the Addressing Bullying in Schools Act (Northern Ireland) 2016, our school has implemented comprehensive policies and procedures to tackle bullying behaviours effectively. This legislation provides a clear definition of bullying behaviours and mandates schools to record all incidents, their motivations, and outcomes. Our Board of Governors is dedicated to the development, implementation, monitoring, and periodic review of our anti-bullying policies to ensure they remain effective and relevant.

We believe in fostering an anti-bullying behaviours culture through education, awareness, and support. Our staff are trained to recognise signs of bullying behaviours and to provide appropriate interventions. We encourage students to speak up and report any incidents of bullying behaviour, knowing they will be heard and supported.

Our approach includes:

  • Preventative Education: Regular workshops and assemblies to educate students about the impact of bullying and the importance of empathy and respect.
  • Support Systems: Providing support for both victims and those who engage in bullying behaviours to address underlying issues.
  • Clear Reporting Mechanisms: Ensuring students and parents know how to report bullying incidents and feel confident that their concerns will be addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Community Involvement: Engaging with parents, guardians, and the wider community to create a united front against bullying.

Together, we create a school environment where every student feels valued, respected, and safe.
